Two gun safes broken into and content stolen in Central West town

COWRA, Central West, NSW, Australia - Two gun safes at a home in Cowra were broken into on the weekend and their contents stolen.

The robbery took place around 7:00am on Saturday morning.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District received reports several firearms were taken.

Police were told the occupant noticed a garage door to the home was partially opened, before a further check revealed the two gun safes had been forced open and their contents were missing.

Five firearms, two scopes and two additional firearms bolts were reported stolen.

Detectives from Chifley Police District attended the home, where they were assisted by Bathurst Crime Scene who completed a specialist forensic examination.

As their investigations continue, they are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Police urge anyone with information about this incident, including CCTV or dashcam footage from the area between 6.30pm Friday (6 September 2019) and 7am Saturday (7 September 2019) to contact Cowra Police Station on 6341 5099,Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or Information is treated in strict confidence.
